About us

Here’s three key things we live by…

We place value showing our love in practical ways, by taking what we love and making it how we love. We aim to speak truth in love, show grace and stand for the uncompromising Truth – Jesus.

It’s so easy to hold grudges, and becoming offended can happen a lot, especially in churches!
Forgiveness is not only biblical but it helps lower our stress, anxiety and helps us live more like the way Jesus wants us to.

We love to serve because Jesus did!

Our main aim is to serve and minister every day in every way, whether it be at the supermarket checkout, at work, on the train. There are opportunities everyday for us to do good and heal all who are oppressed by the devil- because God is with you!

We would love to meet you

Michael and Sheryl were honoured to step into the pastorate following the faithful leadership of Michael’s parents, Pastors Niu and Nia Sua, who pioneered and pastored the church, the Samoan Assembly of God, Upper Hutt, for 25 years. Both Michael and Sheryl grew up serving in various churches and have held multiple roles in church life over the years.

Passionate about guiding people to their identity in Christ, Michael and Sheryl encourage lives to be shaped by God’s Word. They are committed to cultivating a praying, caring and sharing community—one that restores and rebuilds relationships, marriages, families and the wider neighbourhood.

They long to see believers carry God’s presence into every day, open to the possibility of miracles, and for Hope Beacon Hill to shine as a city on a hill—guiding others along the path to Jesus.

Michael, an artist at heart, studied Interior and Visual Design before graduating from the C3 School of Ministry in Sydney. Sheryl trained at the C3 School of Creative Arts in Sydney, majoring in vocals. Together, they infuse Hope Beacon Hill with their love for the arts and all things creative.

Michael and Sheryl live in Hutt City, Wellington, with their daughter and dog, Charlie!
